I was driving on a country road in some dense fog early one morning.
I had on my head lights…
But I still couldn’t see very far in front of me…
But I continued on…
Then seemingly out of nowhere I see a bike rider.
Riding a bike in the dense fog one early morning is probably not the healthiest thing to do…
At any rate, I barely saw him and swerved out of the way to miss him…
Now if this were a regular morning…
I would have seen him a good ways away.
But in the fog…
It is a lot more difficult…
Reading the scripture for sermon preparation is a lot like this…
You drive on the road…but there is a lot of fog in the way keeping you from seeing what you might otherwise see…
What fog?
The fog of our complacency …we think we already know what’s out there…and then we can’t see what’s laying right there ready to jump out at us…
What fog?
The fog of trying to force our “God gonna hook you up” agenda on the text…
Or perhaps the fog of trying to force our “you better get right” agenda on the text…
What fog?
The fog of our distance from the Most High through lack of connection…
What fog?
There is fog yall…
But there is something through the fog…
Just like I had some headlights on my car…
You have headlights…
Headlights that will help you see what you might not otherwise see…
First of all the Spirit is some headlights…
And
Some kind of system to see the text…
And that is my four waves of Biblical exegesis…
Turn on the headlights and check out the whitepaper here: https://gumroad.com/products/okfy
