Do you Need the Bible Languages?
An interesting question from the Expository Thoughts blog. As I read the post two parallel emotions came over me. First, I think that one must never come to the conclusion that languages are necessary to know the scriptures. And another point, we have a responsibility to use every tool that we have the ability to use in preparation. and finally, we should desire to gain greater preceision and power in our preaching that will probably require the languages.
Will Your Preaching Be Missed?
Seth Goodin talks about how he used to go to Tower Records but now goes to Amazon.com and thus does not really care about the closing of Tower Records. He notes how he doen’t go to the bank or even use the classified Ads when looking for jobs. Something has replaced these things and they are no longer useful.
Haggard’s Repentence
Here is a link to the letter that Ted Haggard wrote which demonstrates his repentence. The letter demonstrates that he was immediately removed from office for his illiegal activities as well as his being placed under the spiritual leadership of three pastoral overseers. In addition, Haggard takes total responsibility for his actions.

Ted Haggard and the Allegations
This is getting more painful as time goes on. Now Haggard admits to buying Meth from a gay prostitute. Haggard admits to purchasing illigal drugs, but he does not admit to the sexual relationship that the prostitute alledges. While he admits to purchasing the drugs, Haggard tells us that he did not take the drugs but only threw them away.
The Bible, Swing, and Syncopation
Over at the Jazz Theologian blog there is a discussion of swing and syncopation in Bible Hermeneutics. The Jazz Theologian believes that syncopation
can be applied to the scriptures and if we do, we will discover, not hidden meaning but meaning that has been missed because it falls on the off beats of scripture.
