“What can you do about fear? I am scared to enter the pulpit.” A preacher asked me.
You know what?
Every time I get ready to go into the pulpit…
I am scared.
I probably shouldn’t have told you that…but it is true…
The closer it gets to when I will stand in the pulpit…
The more my stomach tightens…
Yeah, I know…The Bible says “perfect love casts out all fear.” (1 John 4:18)
Yeah, I know…”If God before us…who can be against us…” (Romans 8:31)
Yeah…I know…
But there is still a tinge of fear that hits me.
Most of us will have some kind of fear at some level when we get ready to preach…
Let me let you in on another secret…every time I get ready to create another lesson on preaching…or I do another blog post on SoulPreaching.Com…the enemy attempts to get me to stop…
But…
One thing I learned…it ain’t about what you are feeling…it’s about what you are doing…
I find that when I stand up and get started…suddenly the fear dissipates and goes back just like the Jordan river did when the priests stuck the tip of their toes in the water on the banks…
One of my Bible teachers said, “A martyrs courage isn’t given until the time it is needed.”
So what do I say to the one who wonders about fear…Do like I do…don’t let it stop you…go head on and do…
Stand up in the power and strength of God.
And when you stand up…the fear will go not always before the moment…but IN the moment as you do that which you are called to do…
Stand up sisters and brothers and see the salvation of God…Exodus 14:13…
And watch the devils retreat as you go do the bidding of our God…
