Just Keep Put The Ball In Play
Yall gonna have to forgive me. I grew up watching the Kansas City Royals.
My family moved from Kansas City in 1985 when they won the world series.
And then this year…they finally ended the drought and won it again.
I haven’t been back in Kansas City in years, but I still watched each game with anticipation…
And one thing this KAnsas City Royals team did that helped them to win the World Series was they simply kept the ball in play. They didn’t strike out often. They connected the bat to the ball.
OK, Cox..what does that have to do with preaching?
Yall ask me often, “How often do you have to hit a homerun in the pulpit?”
You know what…All you have to do is keep the ball in play.
I ain’t telling you to hit a single…
I ain’t telling you to get on base…
I am telling you to just keep the ball in play…
Connect the bat to the ball.
Make it so that something great can happen…
It may not happen…
But it could…if you simply keep the ball in play…
“How do you do that?”
Glad you asked…
You keep the ball in play by exegeting the scripture with a mindset of understanding what the scripture has to say to those who have their back against the wall…
How do you do that?
You keep the ball in play by helping people to understand how the good news affects their daily lives…
How do you do that?
You keep the ball in play by every week making sure that you speak the truth…
You may not hit a homer…
You may not hit a single…
You may not even get on base…
But you know what…you will put the ball in play…
And when all else fails..remember the Bible says that the Word won’t come back void…
This is at the core of my homiletic…You need to just get the bat on the ball…check it out at http://www.superchargeyoursermons.net
Till tomorrow,
Brother Sherman
