I think that preachers should listen to other preachers whenever you get the chance. I have found two online radio stations that provide 24 hours or Black sermons. The first of these is the WTAM Black Sermon Radio found on Live 365.
Another website is the Preach Radio Network which you can findat this link.
Both sites provide music and sermonic content.
Darfur – What is your congressperson’s Grade?
At this link you will find how your congresspeople have voted on issues related to Darfur. The Genocide continues and it doesn’t seem to be on the radar of either the general public or the media.
See how your congressperson has voted…encourage that one to do better. The best of the Black Preaching Tradition has always cared for and advocated for the powerless. Let us be the voice of the voiceless.
Is Gift Based Ministry an Excuse?
Chuck Warnick in his Confessions of a Small Church Pastor blog asks the question, “Has gift-based ministry given us an excuse not to serve?” He notes that often we hear people saying, “that is not my gift” when asked to serve.
Warnick notes that we have allowed the idea that all have been given a gift to be perverted into the idea that “if you don’t have THIS gift you don’t have to do anything.”

The very helpful Black and Christian site posted this guide to African Americans and religion. It is a pretty good look at African American religion for use by writers. I would encouarge all to go visit the site.
Praise God for the Computer Scientist
This is of interest to me as a theolgian and a software engineer. Milton Stanley over at the Transforming Sermons blog has noted that a Computer Scientist has found many errors in the Greek Bibles that are found online. That Computer Scientist, Alan Bunning, is posting corrected versions of these electronic texts. You can find his site here.

Well, the Apprentice is back and I must admit that this is about the only television show that I look at every week. I am not sure why it is so appealing to me, perhaps it is that we are simply looking at human nature.

Fortuneteller or Prophet?
Pat Robertson predicts that a massive terrorist attack will happen to the USA in 2007 according to an article in CNN.Com. The article goes on to tell of Robertson’s other predictions and interesting statements. For example, Robertson saying that God punished Ariel Sharon with a stroke for giving some of the land to the Palistinians. Robertson also predicted that bush would easily win re-election.
Haggard’s Repentence
Here is a link to the letter that Ted Haggard wrote which demonstrates his repentence. The letter demonstrates that he was immediately removed from office for his illiegal activities as well as his being placed under the spiritual leadership of three pastoral overseers. In addition, Haggard takes total responsibility for his actions.

This is getting more painful as time goes on. Now Haggard admits to buying Meth from a gay prostitute. Haggard admits to purchasing illigal drugs, but he does not admit to the sexual relationship that the prostitute alledges. While he admits to purchasing the drugs, Haggard tells us that he did not take the drugs but only threw them away.
The Bible, Swing, and Syncopation
Over at the Jazz Theologian blog there is a discussion of swing and syncopation in Bible Hermeneutics. The Jazz Theologian believes that syncopation
can be applied to the scriptures and if we do, we will discover, not hidden meaning but meaning that has been missed because it falls on the off beats of scripture.
